One of my goals this year is to help as many people as I can start making money via affiliate marketing. I love affiliate marketing because it doesn’t involve product creation, customer service, inventory or anything like that. In a nutshell, your only job as an affiliate is to drive traffic to the merchants site. When a sale is made, you get paid. I personally think affiliate marketing is one of the best ways for a complete newbie to start making money online.

Over the next couple of days I am going to take you through the process of making your first affiliate sale so make sure you subscribe to my feed so you will know when new information is added.

Ok, lets get going. Today I will talk to you about clickbank and how I pick products to promote. If you are a complete newbie to the affiliate marketing world I suggest you start with clickbank.  The reason I say clickbank is because there is no approval process. Once you sign up you can start promoting the products in the marketplace. Some affiliate networks require you speak with a rep before you can start promoting with them. They will ask you various questions about how you will be promoting etc… etc…   Since you are new, you probably won’t really know how to answer these questions so just start with clickbank and once you understand affiliate marketing a little more you can venture out to other networks.

Now, once you have signed up with clickbank its time to find a product you want to promote.  Being that its January, the weight loss products are super hot right now. You can either pick one of those or pick a product in the relationship category or the money category. 3 categories that will always make money are the health, wealth and love categories.

Once you find a product you want to promote there are 2 things that I always look at. One is the salespage. ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS, take the time to read over the salespage. If it doesn’t sell you then it probably won’t sell anyone else.  Another thing I always look at is the merchants affiliate page. I like to see what they have to offer their affiliates. I am basically looking for articles. I use article marketing to generate traffic so if the merchant offers articles I can use it makes my job alot easier.

So here is your homework assignment for today. First, go sign up for clickbank if you haven’t already. Second, browse around the marketplace to find a product you would want to promote. Remember, products in health, wealth and love category tend to sell very well.

Ok, so its the beginning of a new year which means millions of people will hop online in hopes of replacing their 9 to 5 this year. Sadly enough, more then half of them will fail miserably. Don’t be one of them. Below you will find 2 very important things you must do in order to succeed online.

Set Goals – Yes thats right, you need to set goals if you want to be successful online. You see, alot of people fail because they have no idea what they are trying to accomplish. So they just jump from program to program never experiencing any real success. Take the time today to sit down and write out your goals. Writing down your goals will help you get clear about what you want and it will also help you stay focused. When you get clear with what you want, you start to move closer to your goal and your goal starts to move closer to you.  Setting goals is a very important part of success in any area of your life.  So sit down right now and write out your goals, no matter how big they are. Write them down. For example, my goal for this year is to have at least 100,000, yes you read that right, different little simple websites up and running making me at least $5 a day by the end of the year.  I will be making money via adsense and affiliate programs. Thats a big goal but guess what? I know I can do it. Once you put your goals out there things will start to change.  I am telling you, once you get clear with what you want, GOD, the universe or whatever you want to call it, will start pushing you toward that goal by giving you great ideas and by sending the right people your way that can help you reach those goals. Just be open to recieve and you will.

Get started  – Sounds simple but you would be suprised just how many people never get started. They spend ALL of their time in research and learning mode. You can’t do that. You will learn more by doing than by reading. So stop trying to learn everything there is to know and put what you already know into action TODAY.  It doesn’t matter if you write one article today or if you create one video promoting your site or product. Just do something. You know what stops people from getting started? FEAR. I once heard someone say fear stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. Get control of your mind and tell fear it can not live there. You are brilliant, you are highly intelligent and you can accomplish absolutely anything you set out to accomplish.  So GET STARTED TODAY!

2009 is officially over. That means you need to stop looking back and focus on moving forward in this new year. We have all made mistakes, failed in certain areas and wished we had done things differently. But listen, you can’t change anything you have already done. All you can do is choose to do better in the future. So lets choose to win in 2010. Pick yourself up and dust yourself off. You can do it. You really can. I know it gets hard. But keep pushing. This isn’t just about making money online, this is about life in general. Don’t give up. If you want to stop smoking, then go for it with all your heart. If you want to be a better husband or wife, go for it with all your heart. It doesn’t matter how many times you have fallen off the saddle, just get back up.

I have already declared that 2010 will be an amazing year for me. I will reach every goal I set. I expect great things to happen and so should you. One thing I have recently started doing is writing down my goals. I think this is a very important part of success. So I encourage you to write down your goals. Whatever they are, write them down. If you want to lose weight, write it down. If you want to make $5000 a month within the next 6 months, write it down. Writing things down will help you get clear with what you want and help you stay focused.

I challenge you to go after every dream you have ever had this year. No matter how big it is. You can do it. Lets make 2010 our year to win. Are you with me?

I use adsense on this blog and on some of my affiliate blogs as a way to bring in a little extra money. If you use adsense on your sites and blogs check out this video. Google now has a certified ad network that will help you increase your adsense earnings over time.

I know many people get excited, sign up for clickbank and are ready to start making money. The problem is that many of them have a real hard time figuring out what to sell. They want to make sure they sell the products that will make them the most money. So here are a few things I look for when it comes to picking profitable products on clickbank.

Gravity – A good indicator that a product will sell is the gravity. The gravity is a number calculated by clickbank that shows how many different affiliates have sold a particular product within the past 8 weeks. A high gravity is a good indicator that the product is currently hot and selling very well. Though high gravity is a good indicator of whether a product will sell or not, that doesn’t mean products with low gravity won’t. Just cause a product has a gravity of 2 doesn’t mean the product isn’t good and won’t sale. Sometimes that simply means the product is new or the vendor of the product hasn’t done a good job recruiting affiliates to sell the product.

Keywords – I always use the google keyword tool to see just how many people are bidding on keywords related to the particular product I want to promote. The more people I see bidding on keywords related to the product the better. If people are willing to pay for traffic then they are making money from it. That means I can jump in, saturate the market with my articles and start making money.

The Salespage – Always, and I mean always read the salespage before you start promoting a product. If the page looks a mess and the copy sucks then guess what? People will not be buying the product. It is your job to visit the salespage and read through the copy to make sure its good. If it doesn’t sell you then chances are it won’t sell anyone else.

Materials offered – Before I start promoting a product I always check to see what materials are offered to the affiliate. You can check this out by going to the vendors affiliate page. I am a big article marketer so if a vendor offers articles that makes my job alot easier. I can read through their articles to come up with my own. It eliminates the need for alot of research. Most vendors offer articles, press releases, keyword lists and some even offer a rebrandable ebook you can use to build a list. The more material they offer the easier your job will be.
