About Me
Hey There,
Thanks so much for stopping by. My name is Heather, AKA The Billion Dollar Girl, and here is my story. I started out making money online around 2001-2002. I was 21 at the time. My first venture was with a company called SFI where I sold a book called “Mining Gold On The Internet” By Shawn Casey. That was my first experience with affiliate marketing. At that point I didn’t know alot about marketing online so I purchased a ton of leads from some company, I forgot the name, and they sent out emails for me.
From that one mailing I made a sale that made me a $40 commission. From that point on I was hooked. I literally quit my job soon after and decided I was going to go full force with this internet thing.
Sidenote: I do not suggest anyone just up and quit there job. Not the smartest thing to do. I only did it because I had back up. Basically I was still living with my parents so I didn’t really have to worry about much.
Anyways, I played around with SFI for a while and then moved on to cognigen and a few other things. I didn’t make another sale after that first one so I quickly ventured off into something else. EBAY! Ebay was cool for a while but it just wasn’t what I was looking for. I was selling portable DVD players at the time and they were selling really well. The problem was that I was using a dropshipper and ebay had a ton of fees which meant my profit margin wasn’t all that great.
So I left that alone and got involved in independent contract work via guru.com. I took on work as a customer service rep/graphic artists for a company that helped real estate agents attract potential buyers. I basically designed banners for real estate agents all over the country. The banners where placed online and that is how they got in front of more potential buyers.
Another sidenote: As you can see, I jumped around alot which is the reason why I am currently not where I want to be as far as my internet business goes. I wasted alot of time jumping from here to there and everywhere. So my advice to you is if you find something you want to do then give it your all. Don’t try it for a month or so and then quit like I did. Really give it a full effort then if it doesn’t work move on. Otherwise you will waste alot of time and money.
Ok moving right along, I worked with this company for about 2 years. 2004 to about 2006. The company sort of went down after the housing market took a turn for the worst. Now while working with this company I was introduced to article marketing. Now at the time it didn’t mean much but as my journey continued it came in handy.
Once my work with that company ended I went back to trying to make money online. I knew I could do it and I really wanted the freedom that I knew would come along with it. Hey, making money online meant I could work anywhere and from where ever I wanted to as long as I had an internet connection. You can’t beat that. Anyways, one day while playing around online I came across this site called the bum marketing method.
I already knew about affiliate marketing but I had never really understood article marketing and how it can help me drive traffic and make money. Well after reading about the whole bum marketing thing I quickly signed up with clickbank, found a product and start writing articles. I wanted to see if this would really help me make money. To my surprises it worked. After placing about 5 articles on ehow.com I had made a sale. Doesn’t sound like much but to me that showed potential. It didn’t take me long to write the articles so I was very happy with that sale.
I then wrote more articles and made more sales. Long story short, I made about $200 worth of sales in about 2 weeks. From that point on I was addicted to article marketing.
Fast forward to today. Though im still not exactly where I want to be I am getting closer. I have learned alot and I want to share that knowledge with others. My goal is to make a billion dollars online and im going to do it. I invite you to take this journey with me. Set some goals and go after them. Come back to this blog on a regular basis so you can learn what it takes to make money online. As I learn I will pass that knowledge on to you.
The greatest piece of advice I can give you is to stay hungry and be consistent. I didn’t fail because its hard to make money online, I failed because I wasn’t consistent and I didn’t put to good use the knowledge that I had acquired.
Well thats all for now. Until next time.
Dream BIG, or don’t dream at all.
To Your Success,
Heather – AKA – The Billion Dollar Girl
